60th National Convention (11th Biennial Meeting) April 1-4, 2009 Theme: “Looking Beyond the Past for Future Change” Greetings Alpha Kappa Muans, AKMuans at Kappa Upsilon Chapter (Alcorn State University) and Mu Delta Chapter (Mississippi Valley State University) invite you to join us for the 60th National Convention in Natchez, Mississippi, April 1-4, 2009. The Natchez –Eola Hotel, Natchez, Mississippi, is the convention hotel, Natchez Mississippi. The convention site is located in the picturesque riverfront town of Natchez, Mississippi. Several events will take place on the beautiful campus of Alcorn State University (ASU), which is situated in Alcorn State, Mississippi located in rural Southwest Mississippi. ASU is known as the “Campus of Excellence” and is the Nation’s first state approved land-grant institution of higher education for African Americans. Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU), the co-host for the convention is located in Itta Bena, Mississippi, the Center of the Mississippi Delta and is known as the “Valley of Scholars”. HOTEL RESERVATIONS: For hotel reservations at the Eola Hotel, please call Eola Hotel 1-866-445-3652 or 601-445-6000. Make sure you reserve under the name, Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society. Reservations must be guaranteed with a valid credit card or with an advance deposit for the first night’s stay, prior to arrival. Changes or cancellations of reservations must be made by 4:00 p.m. the day prior to arrival to avoid charges to credit card of one night’s room and tax or forfeiture of advanced deposit. ROOM AND RATES: The following special rates will be in effect based upon advance reservations. Rates are subject to state and local taxes. Single/Double Standard Rooms @ 98.00 Jr. Suite Balcony Room @175.00 Single/Double Balcony Rooms @ 125.00 KINGS: Rooms @ 148.00 Rates are subject to 10% state and local taxes. $2.00 Occupancy Tax per night. The room block under the name AKMu will be held until March 1, 2009. Any unreserved portion of your block may be released back to the house.
