Awards Program

Two scholarships (Gore-Crawford) for $2,000 each are awarded each year to two undergraduate students who will enroll in a graduate or professional school during the following school year.

Nominations must come from the chapter. Each chapter may nominate only one member.

Nominees must be prospective graduate or prospective professional students anticipating the awarding of the baccalaureate degree by the end of the academic year of the nomination.

Winners are announced at the regional meetings, biennial conventions, and in the AKM Newsletter. Commemorative plaques are also awarded.


The George W. Gore/Thomas J. Crawford Scholarship Winners for 2007 are:

Gretta Ashley Moody, Kappa Delta Chapter, Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia.

Dr. Katrina Brown-Baskins serves as Advisor for Kappa Delta Chapter. Miss Moody is majoring in Advertising and plans to enter graduate school at either Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, VA or Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.

Corey Julius Caldwell, Gamma Tau Chapter, North Carolina A and T University, Greensboro, North Carolina.

Ms. Sandrea T. Williamson, serves as Advisor for Gamma Tau Chapter. Mr. Caldwell is majoring in Chemistry and has been admitted to the 2007 first year dental class, the Class of 2011, at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry.
